full credits for this method go to the queen abbey yung herself. this is just a written and visual guide with easy shopping links to follow along-side her videos.
the abbey yung hair method has been taking tik-tok by storm and i wanted to break it down to make it easy to find the right products and follow along
Step 1: Pre-Shampoo Bond Repair
abbey recommends: use spray to fully saturate hair at least ten minutes prior to washing
1x or 2x per week
you can skip this step if you are using another bond repair treatment

Step 2: Pre-Shampoo Oil Treatment *optional*
abbey recommends: choose the oil which is the best fit for your hair type
if using epres bond repair treatment, wait 10 minutes before applying pre-wash oil
if you are using another bond repair treatment (pre or post wash), you may also skip this step
apply until hair is evenly coated focusing on lengths and ends
leave at least 20 minutes before washing (there’s no limit, so you can sleep with it in and shower in the morning if that works best for you)
Step 3: Clarifying/Deep Cleaning Shampoo
abbey recommends: at least once a week, more if needed
Step 4: Regular Shampoo
abbey recommends: wash with non-clarifying/regular shampoo on any wash day that you don’t need a clarifying shampoo ie.you use clarifying shampoo once a week and wash your hair four times, the other three will be regular shampoo
you may also use medicated shampoos for dandruff and other scalp conditions as needed
Step 5: Bond Repair Treatments
abbey recommends: using K18 on clarifying shampoo days. apply to damp hair after rinsing out shampoo, and let sit for 4 minutes before rinsing, and following up with conditioner. on regular shampoo days, use one of the other treatments using the same steps, letting sit for 5-10 minutes instead of 4.
the important thing is that you are using at least one bond repair treatment at least once a week.
Step 6: In-Shower Conditioning
a little education in conditioning products…
Glosses: Great for thinner hair types, provides extra shine
Masks: Great for course or thick hair, provides intense conditioning
Conditioner: tends to fall somewhere in the middle
abbey recommends: leave in your hair at least a few minutes before rinsing, longer if needed.
use one conditioning product every time you wash, if needed you can use more than one in the same wash
Step 7: Post-Wash Bond Treatment *optional*
Living Proof Triple Bond Complex
abbey recommends: once or twice a week, apply post-wash and wait 10 minutes before applying any other treatments. for best results, blow dry hair to damp for best activation.

Step 8: Leave-In Conditioner | Heat Protector
all of abbey’s picks in the category are combination leave-in conditioner and heat protector in a spray bottle, for both ease of use and even distribution
abbey recommends: apply to damp hair in sections, to. ensure even distribution
Step 9: Styling Products *optional*
use styling products of your choice, the sky’s the limit, but here are some great recommendations from abbey
Step 10: Style Sealers
if you’ve used your leave in conditioner and you feel like you want a little extra conditioning, these are for you.
Step 11: Between-Wash Care
if you’ve used your leave in conditioner and you feel like you want a little extra conditioning, these are for you.
